National Day of Qatar at Expo2015
During his speech at the National Day Ceremony within the State of Qatar Pavilion at Expo Milan, his Excellence the Minister of Economy and Trade: Qatar participates by spreading its experiences and the lessons learned from its development together with the other countries of the world.

The State of Qatar’s Pavilion which attends Expo Milano 2015 in Italy celebrated today, Sunday October 4th 2015, the National Day with the participation of a delegation headed by His Excellency Sheikh Ahmed Bin Jassem Bin Mohamed Al - Thani , Minister of Economy and Trade .
The celebration of the National Day at the State of Qatar’s Pavilion within Expo 2015 was attended by Her Excellency Ms. Federica Guidi, Minister of Economic Development of the Italian Republic, Mr. Bruno Antonio Pasquino, General Commissioner of Expo 2015, Mr. Giuseppe Sala, Sole Commissioner Delegated by the Italian Government for Expo Milano 2015 and His Excellency Mr. Abdel Aziz Bin Ahmed Al - Maliki, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Italian Republic and Commissioner General of the State of Qatar Pavilion at Expo Milano. The event was attended also by Italian and Qatari leaders with a massive participation of the official delegations of Expo‘s participating countries together with the public and the media.
The ceremony featured a speech by His Excellency the Minister of Economy and Trade, Ahmed Bin Jassem Bin Mohamed Al - Thani during which he welcomed the audience and the attendees of the National Day Ceremony.
His Excellency said: "The celebration of the National Day sheds light on the renaissance of the modern State of Qatar with the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al- Thani, Prince of the country - may God protect him - and on what he achieved in terms of results and global development under the national vision of Qatar in 2030 which is based on four main pillars: human development, social development, economic development and environmental development.
The national development strategy (2011-2016) is a practical translation of the State’s national vision through which it seeks to strengthen the diversification of the economy to lay the foundation of a producing and creative society and to grant new opportunities".
His Excellency the Minister of Economy and Trade added: "The State of Qatar occupies today advanced roles in several areas. According to the indicators of some international institutions, Qatar has reached the fourteenth place on a global scale in the Global Competitiveness Report published by the World Economic Forum in the years 2015-2016. Qatar also occupies the twentieth position among international financial hubs according to the report issued by the Indicator of international financial centers for the year 2015. Qatar also occupies the first position among the Middle East countries and the twentieth on a global scale in the Index of global Peace”.
Qatar works to find innovative solutions aimed at achieving food security .
With regard to the participation of the State of Qatar to Expo 2015 in Milan, His Excellency said: "The participation of the State of Qatar in this global event with the slogan: "Seed sustainability. Innovative solutions for food security", is matching with the main slogan of the Expo:" Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life ". Qatar is convinced of the importance of cooperation and coordination with the rest of the world around the issue of food security. We all realize that the lack of food, hunger, and malnutrition have many aspects that can be solved by setting a strategy. This should rationalize the use of productive resources through the exemplar use of original resources and sources of food available for human beings. It should also be developed through the study of practical alternatives that can help to alleviate the negative effects of lack of food, hunger and malnutrition, and to increase investments in the field of agricultural research as well as use science and technology in the search for innovative solutions to increase food productivity in order to accompany the increase in global demand for food forced ".
His Excellency emphasized the fact that the State of Qatar is fully aware of the importance of achieving food security by putting it among its priorities. The first choice was to move towards the production of food materials in the State with the participation of the private sector, setting a strategy aimed at granting products and agricultural crops in line with the local demand for food ".
His Excellency added that the participation of the State of Qatar aims, through its pavilion which attracted about 3.5 million visitors since its opening, to communicate its experiences to the countries of the world in several important areas such as: food, agriculture, sustainable energy, environment, health, education, culture and also to profit from the successful experiences of other countries and local and international organizations operating in these areas .
Excellent trade relations connect Qatar to Italy
In his speech, His Excellency referred to the historic relations that bind Italy and Qatar and to the great leap made in the last period, distinguished by several partnerships in important areas, which have increased the volume of commercial exchanges between the two countries in the period 2009 - 2014 to about $ 3.5 billion. The volume of the Qatari exports reached approximately $ 2 billion (the most important involving natural gas and petrochemical products) while the volume of Italian imports in the State of Qatar reached about 1.5 billion dollars (the most important involving machinery, equipment, furniture) which make the Italian Republic one of the most important trading partners of the State of Qatar. Infrastructure projects like the underground in Doha, the new Hamad port and major economic projects that are being currently developed contributed in a wide way to the volume increase of Italian imports, taking them to record levels. His Excellency added: "We look forward to increasing trade cooperation between the State of Qatar and the Italian Republic, and to carry on this special relation to serve the interests of the two friendly countries and peoples."
Concluding his speech, His Excellency Sheikh Ahmed Bin Jassem Bin Mohamed Al - Thani expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the Government of its friend the Republic of Italy and to the Expo organizers for their efforts and large resources deployed to ensure the success of this important world event that carries in its folds humanitarian messages, with a noble message which aiming to achieve prosperity and security for all humanity."
